In the context of its Interparliamentary Conference «Towards Partnership Between Men and Women in Politics», the IPU wished to involve artists in its relfections on democracy.
At the inaugural ceremony, Dominique Barthassat performed a concert in the gardens of the Indian Parliament. On the basis of an Indian evening raga, he played the piano and keyboard synthetiser in an improvisation with Indian sarod player Aaman Ali Bangash along with Ustad Shafaat Ahmed Khan at the tabla.
