LIVE SOUND NAVIGATOR

creation for the WTID, ARENA - Geneva

Live Sound Navigator, a world premiere, offered in the Arena throughout the day is a live presentation of the concept of Sound Architectures developped by Dominique Barthassat.

Dominique Barthassat opend and closed the WTID's weekend by a performance of Live Sound Navigator and accompanied the proceedings with the Acoustic Design throughout the weekend.

The Acoustic Ring, composed of several sound stations, projects the Sound Architecture which creates an effect of a sphere.
The huge Sound Architecture thus created projects its sounds into space, making it possible to explore a different dynamic of musical space and invites the spectator to travel in the sensory space of sound, to move within the sound and enable them to perceive another dimension of sound.

The composer directs the Acoustic Ring through his computer and 4 keyboards (programmed with composed and sculpted sound matters) in a dialogue with his piano and synthesizer.
The musical framework, developed from a palette of composed and sculpted sounds, is shaped by the new computer-related sound technologies.

The sound wave created by the Acoustic Ring effect takes different routes and generates new musical forms which are transformed into geometrical shapes.
This unfolding of sounds and musical themes constitutes a huge orchestra which allows a new conception of live-composition to establish new ways of listening and new musical techniques which will create new links between creation and technology.

The Acoustic Design, during the proceedings, will immerse the spectator in the theme required and will highlight a demonstration, a speaker, etc.
