ECLIPTIQUESound Envelope Centre de la Vieille-Charité, Marseille, France 30 april - 15 may 1999 The 8 loudspeakers of the « Sound Envelope » diffuse from the roof a sound and musical fresco like a 360° score. The sounds projected create a Sound Architecture which outlines the building and draws out in the sky, geometrical shapes, like constellations. The spectator, walking through the site, becomes the actor of his own perception. The geometrical lay-out of the « Sound Enveloppe » evokes a compass-card, marks out the 4 cardinal points and sends back, like in a mirror's game, to the symbolic of the Mandala. The spacialized composition develops sound and musical climatics on an orbital mode. Each zone has its own specificity and evokes a ship, a jewel-case, a labyrinth. Creation for the Centre de la Vieille Charité (Direction des Musées de Marseille) and for the Festival International des Musiques d'Aujourd'hui «Les Musiques 99», organized by GMEM, Centre National de Création Musicale, Marseille. |
